Now Stocking ProCreate!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 22, 2012 by Grekwood Miniatures

New products on Grekwood Minaitures:
Today I received an order of ProCreate from the manufacturer in America. I have uploaded the product to the website, so it is now available to sell. It’ll be £7.99 which I think is slightly less than the RRP.

Here’s a link to the ProCreate page: http://www.grekwoodminiatures.co.uk/Putties.php

If you are not familiar with this putty, it’s like Green Stuff but I find it much smoother and far easier and quicker to mix together. Also, if you haven’t already, check out my previous blog for the new resin bases which we are now selling.

Sculpting:
Sculpting is going ok, slow, but steady. I’m really happy with 4 of the new sculpts i’ve done. They are kinda of mutants who have large guns. They will work for zombie games, or alien invasions, or pretty much any sci-fi game where you want beings who have been experimented on. I think my sculpting on them has improved dramatically. I’ll post photos soon, but not too early as I don’t want anyone out there taking the ideas and producing them before I can. I’m not saying they would, but it’s always a possibility, and I’m paranoid about that kind of stuff.

The new nurses look pretty decent. They are conversions of the current zombies, but I chopped them up, reposed them quite a bit, slimmed them down so they look totally different. They also have normal zombie heads too! In addition to the heads I extended their dress to the knees, added shoulder lapels, and added sleeve detail. I took away the weapons, but added some slight damage to two of them (like with the rest of the hospital packs).

New Releases! – Resin Bases

Posted in Uncategorized on May 13, 2012 by Grekwood Miniatures

We have uploaded 4 new products to the website. They are 30mm resin bases which you may have seen in some of the photos on our website (Zombie photos).

They include:
6 x Cobble stone bases
6 x Floor tile bases

They also include two types of pavement/road bases. These are:

6 x Tarmac pavements
6 x Flag stone pavements

Each of the pavement/road items include 2 different corner bases, 2 different straight pavement bases, 1 drainage base, and 1 road surface base.

So that’s it for now. You might like to know that new zombie nurses have been made. These will have normal zombie heads. I am currently working on some sci-fi mutants, which I am hoping to get cast at the end of the month/beginning of June.

As always, cheers for looking and thank you to those who have purchased from us already! Remember, join us on Facebook, it’s where the updates are!!

Naughty but Nice

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 6, 2012 by Grekwood Miniatures

Yesterday I collected the second batch of painted zombies (See photo below). It’s cool seeing them painted differently.

28mm Zombies

I also really like the paintwork on Demonic Debra, she appears less demonic painted like this, more “naughty but nice” (see below):

Debra

I think I will be keeping this one as my personal collection! I had two lots painted, one for myself to keep in a cabinet, and the other lot would be to use in wargames and take to conventions etc. I really like the “demonic” painting on the other one, but there is just something about this one which makes me love it!!

Anyway, as always cheers for looking, all figures are available to buy on the website. Join us on Facebook, buy some stuff if you like it, and comments are always welcome :)

Epic Fail: Why Royal Mail and Paypal Have Failed Me…

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 30, 2012 by Grekwood Miniatures

Hellooo..

This post concerns changes to Royal Mail postage and Paypal’s “international” delivery options. I shall be complaining quite a bit as it has annoyed me as a person and a new business, so apologies in advance.

As most of you know, I recently started a mini hobby/business. Postage rates were calculated out nicely so that items could be sent out worldwide to anyone who wanted them. However… *enter horror music*

Today Royal Mail decided to “do over” businesses which do not send out heavy items. Most of the items which I have been sending out have been around 200g or less, which on average cost under around £1.50 to £2.00 to send off (excluding packaging costs etc). But new rates show that anything under 750g is now £2.70 within the UK. Whilst this is great news for items around 500g – 750g which are now cheaper, this has now increased the price of postage on items less than 200g by 70p or more. I know 70p is not much to complain about, but when you have a few parcels a day, it all adds up and I am now making a loss on postage.

What’s worse is the same items being sent out to Europe have also increased in price, and items to America have gone crazy. This would all be fine if I had a shopping cart which could calculate different prices for different countries, but I am currently using Paypal, and as big of a company that it is, they fail to provide this option as far as I can see. If they do, it’s like looking for a needle on mars (a haystack is too easy).

I’m not usually one for complaining, but this is just a huge annoyance that I could have done without since I have only just launched. I have unfortunately had to increase postage prices to combat this. In addition to this, I have had to restrict what i am able to send outside of the UK:

Within the UK: We can supply everything within our site to the UK.

Within Europe: We are unable to sell Trees, Paints, Ballast and Putties to countries in Europe due to the size and/or weight of the items. If you purchase any of these accessories they will not be sent and you will be refunded their cost, and the appropriate P&P will be charged for the remainder of your order.

We are sorry for any inconveience this may cause you. We therefore urge you (if you are outside of the UK) NOT to purchase any Trees, Paints, Ballast or Putties.

Outside of Europe: We can ONLY sell figures to countries outside of Europe. We cannot supply accessories of any kind. This is due to a combination of Paypal being unable to distinguish different countries, and the absoloutly crazy Royal Mail prices. We are working on a way to resolve this.

Ok so there you have it. Appologies for any problems. once I have a working shopping cart of my own, I can change psotage to suit diffent countries, and then items will be available to everyone.

Thanks for reading, and I hope buyers will understand.

Website Has Launched!!

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on April 27, 2012 by Grekwood Miniatures

Hi!

The Grekwood Miniatures website has finally launched!! www.grekwoodminiatures.co.uk

It works fine on Google Chrome and Firefox (I think). There are minor issues with Internet Explorer, but nothing major.

The front page seems to mysteriously have problems on mobiles (not sure why), but the main website works fine. There’s no need to view it on a mobile though, it’s meant for the big screen!!

So check it out, buy things if you want them, but remember, all items come unpainted!! So please don’t expect a cool painted miniature to turn up.

Any orders I receive over the weekend will be shipped on Monday, and after that orders will be shipped either the day after they are received (maybe even the same day!).

As usual, leave cool comments and your thoughts are always welcome!

Zombie Nurses: Bandages Vs Zombie Face…

Posted in Uncategorized on April 25, 2012 by Grekwood Miniatures

Hi!!

I just want to say thank you to all those who have looked at my blog in the past week or so. I have news concerning the zombie nurses with bandages on their faces, so PLEASE read if you are interested in those.

They were originally made to go with the demon “Executioner Steve”, but I decided to develop a full hospital range, and they became part of that instead. As they were not originally meant to be part of this hospital group, I have decided that the nurses with bandages pack will be replaced with another nurse pack.

So, my next group of figures which will hopefully come out over the summer (maybe June/July) will include a different set of zombie nurses which will NOT have bandages on their faces. They will be similar in pose, but they will have differences to make them a “different” figure, rather than just buying the same thing again with a different head.

IMPORTANT:
Once the new pack of nurses are ready for sale, they will replace the bandage nurses on the website, and will become part of the “buy all four hospital packs for a discount”. The zombies with bandages will be moved to a different area of the website, and will no longer be available as part of that deal, but you will still be able to buy them as a separate pack.

Get the deal while you can!!
With this information in mind, if you want the bandage nurses as part of the “buy all 4 packs” discount deal, you’ll have to buy them in the next month or two before they are moved.

Sorry for any issues this may cause, but I believe this is a better way than just producing heads for conversion as it saves you time and money.

Thank you as always, comments are always welcome :)
